Jess contacted me about newborn photography back in the fall for her January due date. January… the month my husband is gone, and this baby is due, in Florida. How could I possibly pull this off?
Truth be told, Ed and I were planning to take a getaway trip to the Caribbean and one night I said, “what if we drive to Florida, see our great friends and welcome them to parenthood and then make it a mini family vacation?” Two seconds flat he said, “let’s do it”.
Ed literally arrived home on Thursday and we made the drive from Greenville to Melbourne Florida on Friday morning to capture sweet five week old Henry and his parents. Bryan and Jess have been friends of ours since we were all in college in Upstate New York. The opportunity to take photos of their brand new son was not only a humbling honor, but it was also a full circle for me and my photography. I really started getting into photography ten years ago when I would photograph the RIT Formula SAE racing team, it’s ironic that the journey has brought me from race cars to babies, but I’m so happy that it has allowed us to keep in touch with such wonderful friends!
We spent nearly the whole day together letting Henry eat, snooze and explore on his own schedule as we went room to document all the love in this family! Bryan and Jess are true team mates in the parenting game and I was so impressed with how naturally they adjusted to newborn life and still have energy to join us for dinner! We are so glad that we decided to make our family vacation destination a newborn session in their home, and we had a great time catching up, reminiscing, swapping pregnancy, and newborn stories in the 80 degree weather of Florida in February.
Congratulations to these wonderful parents, I can’t wait to watch Henry grow up and we will certainly see you again soon!
