And we’re back! That was a slightly long and awkward pause here on The Gliss Nest; January and February are annual “dark days” around here when Eddie has to travel for testing in the snow (and South Carolina doesn’t generally have enough snow to drive on).
The day after he arrived home after being gone for 5 of the first 6 weeks of the year, we got in a car to drive even further south to the beach to see some friends (and meet their newborn son!) and have some family time! We rented the cutest AirBNB just steps away from the ocean (aka my happy place) and spent every morning walking to Dunkin Donuts and then playing on the beach finding shells.
As an added treat, Ed agreed to let me find a photographer for our own family photos. We wanted some dreamy beach family photos, and to celebrate Avery turning 18 months (it’s become a 6 month rotation, right honey?). I found the oh so talented Logan Schenck and we met at sunset on our last night of vacation on a quiet beach. Now, I have taken a lot of family photos over the years and encountered plenty of difficulties, but these Florida photographers have their work cut out. Not only did Avery lay down face first in the sand (after getting a fresh dose of sunscreen), we also had to dodge man-o-war jellyfish on our walks along the water! I think my biggest battle in the Upstate is kids playing in leaves and getting dirty before we start taking photos! Hats off, Logan did an amazing job keeping an easily distracted toddler happy and we are in love with our photos!
Such a great re-charge for our little family to be together! Now hopefully the blog will be back on track 🙂
